The history of the company dates back to 1853. When Oluf Onsun from Veblungsnæs founded the Kværner Jernstøberi ironworks and stoves were one of the main directions.

In 1900, the company was already one of the largest in Norway.

And in the twentieth century. Kværner Jernstøberi has become a diversified company and furnace casting has become one of the areas. In 1916 it was decided to sell the foundry to Herman Onker.

In 1920 he founded Jotul A / S, which operated as the sales department for Kværner Jernstoberi, and included three foundries in eastern Norway.

During the thirties, Kværner and Jotul Ovnstøperi became the largest furnace casting plant in Norway.

And in 1935 Kværner left the company and the company received a new name, which remains to this day - Jotul. In 1977 the company enters the world market.

Over the past 10 years, Jotul has been developing its international network. The Jotul company has production departments which are located in Norway in the cities of Fredrikstad, Holden, USA in Portland, France, Poland in the city of Gdansk, as well as in Denmark.
